A former special agent of the Cyber Division, Leo Taddeo states that he is extremely concerned that a hacking group has managed to take control of an entire infrastructure. He also suggested that if this continues to happen, it could prove devastating, since a security breach could also mean that huge amounts of water could result in massive flooding. This could end up being a very expensive problem for the authorities as well as those who are controlling the dam in the first place. Since such kind of infrastructures are privately owned and are not in control of the United States government, so it is possible that another cyber attack could be executed by the Iranian hackers and there is absolutely nothing that can be done to prevent this since there is little expertise to go around that can actually combat threats like this. The Department of Homeland Security has yet to state something related to the incident, but it has said that it will continue to monitor and curb these attacks to the best of its abilities. We are still waiting for some kind of justification as to why Iranian hackers did what they did and it looks like the places where they will get the most amount of exposure is obviously platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
